Whimpey twins commit to USU

LOGAN — The recruits keep coming for Utah State as football coach Gary Andersen received commitment from two more players on Friday night when twins brothers Kevin and Kyle Whimpey pledged to join the Aggies. The Whimpeys are 2008 graduates of Lone Peak High School in Alpine and have spent the last two years serving LDS missions.

The Aggies continue to focus on depth and size in the trenches and appear to have found both in the Whimpeys. Kevin is a 6-foot-5 225-pound defensive end, while Kyle is a 6-foot-6 295 pound offensive lineman.

Kyle is a run-blocking offensive guard who, according to his brother, can bench press more than 500 pounds and has very strong hands. He will need to work on regaining the form and strength he lost while on his mission to Riverside, California, which he just returned from last week.

Kevin said in an interview with the Deseret News that his strength is his speed and his ability to rush the passer. Kevin returned from his mission to Ventura, California a few weeks ago.

Both players were being recruited by in-state rival Utah, Kevin Whimpey said.

The Whimpey brothers will enroll at Utah State starting on Monday to begin the spring semester.
