Bingham's Hicks going to USU

Jordan Hicks, a 6-foot-5, 280-pound offensive lineman has given Utah State a verbal commitment to sign with the Aggies.

USU fans won’t get a chance to see him play in Aggie blue for another three years, though. Hicks, an all-state lineman for the Miners, has plans.

“I’m going on a mission right out of high school,” Hicks told the Deseret News Friday evening. “So I just need to get and work hard and I think play up there and maybe play pretty early.”

Hicks said he had been recruited by BYU, Stanford and Southern Utah but made the decision to sign with USU after falling in love with the school and the direction he sees the football team going.

“I feel really good about it,” Hicks said. “Everything I’ve experienced up at Utah State has been phenomenal. The education I’ll get up there is great. The changes they’ve made to their facilities are phenomenal … I thought a lot about it, I prayed about it and that’s where I want to go.”

ESPN.com, after a Stanford camp, had this to say about Hicks.

“Needs work on his technique, but has the size, strength and toughness to excel in college.”
