Aggies add Bair to 2012 recruit list

Utah State has added a third high school junior to what is shaping up to be a strong set of recruits to the class of 2012.

Quincy Bair, a 6-foot-5 swingman from American Fork, followed his teammate and point guard Marcel Davis in pledging to sign with the Aggies when he is able to do so in a year.

Bair and Davis join Casey Oliverson, a 6-9 forward who will play for Sky View High next season after transferring in from Louisiana.

Bair told the Deseret News on Sunday he likes the environment and winning tradition Utah State has to offer.

“I’ve been talking to the coaches and I really like them and I think it will be a great fit for,” Bair said. “I’ve been up to the Spectrum and think it’s a great place to play. I love how they have all those people ad how fun it is. It seems like the best fit for me.”

Bair said he has been recruited by BYU, Washington State and Santa Clara but decided to pull the trigger and accept the scholarship offer made by USU coach Stew Morrill.

As a sophomore, Bair averaged 9..8 points and 3.7 rebounds per game for the Cavemen. He said having a close friend and teammate also headed to USU made it easy to decide to be an Aggie.

“I think it’s cool, we’ve all been playing together for a long time so I think it will be great to be together and play in college,” he said, adding it would be nice to see his fellow Utah Pump N Run teammate Jordan Loveridge from West Jordan High round out the class of Utah recruits. “We’ve got a really good team and it would be fun to keep playing with those guys.”
