An interesting tidbit from ESPN.com about Boston College transfer Brady Heslip — who visited Utah State last weekend and has a scholarship offer from the Aggies:
New Oregon head coach Dana Altman has been in contact with former Boston College guard Brady Heslip and is trying to get the Canadian import out to Eugene, Ore. for an official visit, ESPN.com’s UO affiliate www.DuckTerritory.com reports.
Heslip, who enrolled at BC in December, was granted a release from his scholarship when new head coach Steve Donahue took over the Eagles program in April.
“Coach Altman actually gave me a call yesterday about seeing if I would fly out to Oregon for an official visit and to check out the Oregon campus,” Heslip told the site. “I am interested in Oregon and hopefully I can get everything sorted out and visit Oregon.”
Heslip has already visited Boise State and Utah State and claims offers from LaSalle, Rice, Northeastern, UMass, Miami and San Diego. The Ducks have yet to officially offer but are reportedly close to doing so.
If Heslip choses to sign with a school other than Utah State, it would be the second swing-and-miss attempt to land a depth-adding win player in the past month.
But USU could still try to get another recruit. One such target is 6-foot-9 forward Matt Korcheck from Tucson, Arizona’s Sabino High. Once a UTEP signee, Korcheck was released from his National Letter of Intent by new Miners coach Tim Floyd.
