Decision day for Rogers
Stephen Rogers will announce the school he will play basketball for sometime this afternoon.
And numerous message board posters and blog-writing journalists will be able to stop speculating, worrying and guessing.
Rogers, a 6-foot-8 sophomore to be from Mesa Community College, told the Deseret News on Tuesday he would make his decision on Wednesday and make his announcement around 5:30 tonight.
Right now, the second-team All-American has narrowed his choices to Brigham Young and Utah State. The hot-shooting, high-scoring small forward likely will enjoy either school, win a lot of games playing for either the Aggies or Cougars and enjoy a great 3-year ride in front of very supportive fans.
It’s hard to fault Rogers for taking his time and thinking this over. A decision as important as where you will graduate from college — both are solid academic schools and his stated desire to pursue a business degree will be well served in either Provo or Logan — is not something a young man (even though he’s 23 and not exactly young by most college sophomore standards) should make based on impulse or emotion.
Cougar fans or Aggie fans will have a new player to cheer for (or root against depending on the choice) later this evening.
What do you think? Stripping away your own loyalties or allegiances to a particular school, where do you think Rogers should go?
