More fun in Las Cruces
It’s a good thing New Mexico State guard Jahmar Young declared himself eligible for the NBA Draft. Because he might not find himself welcome back at school — not even at NMSU.
Young, the WAC Tournament MVP after leading NMSU to the title with a win over Utah State, has found himself in trouble again. This time, the talented guard was arrested for battery on a police office after an incident early Sunday morning.
According to an article in the Las Cruces Sun-News, Young’s latest adventure resulted in an arrest and release but details of the incident were not released.
It’s not the first time Young has found himself behind bars in Las Cruces.
“In 2008, Young was convicted of battery and assault after an on-campus incident in which Young was accused of exposing himself to a woman in campus housing in August 2007,” the article said. “Young accepted a plea deal that allowed him to avoid jail time and received a one-year deferred sentence and unsupervised probation. Fifteen hours of community service and completion of a sexual harassment awareness course were also ordered as part of the deal.”
The first-team all-WAC junior was expected to return to school for his senior season because he had not hired an agent. That may now be in doubt.
