Never fear, Aggie fans, Wild Bill is on his way to Spokane.
The loud, proud and oh-so-noticeable Utah State fan sent me a text message last night saying he was packing his costumes and hitting the road.
“Plans changed. Found a ride leavin now. I’ll see you there.”
Bill Sproat, the Aggie fan who gets almost as much air time as Stew Morrill during games thanks to his wild costumes, and free-throw distracting antics, had spent most of the past week as the guest of ESPNU in North Carolina filming promotional spots and spreading his ever-expansive fame with the likes of Scott Van Pelt, Reece Davis and even pro wrestling legend Ric Flair.
His flight back to Utah, however, didn’t land until 4 p.m. and, as a college kid, he didn’t have enough spare cash around to book his own flight to Spokane.
But after making calls and getting persuaded by friends, he decided to hit the road and drive through the night.
He may be tired, but he’ll be courtside at the Spokane Arena against Texas A&M.
The Texas Aggies might not need much distracting — they shoot just 66.1 percent from the line.
