The ultimate compliment
Why does Utah State lead the nation in 3-point shooting? Why have the Aggies led the nation in field goal percentage the last two seasons and why will they finish the current season among the top 5 shooting teams in the country?
Because the Aggies are so hard to prepare for and so difficult to guard.
Here’s a quote from talented Fresno State power forward Sylvester Seay from the Fresno Bee.
“They have like 100 damn plays,” said Seay. “We can only go through so many of them. … It’s like taking a test and guessing what things the teacher’s going to put on the test. You go out there and the teacher puts the opposite of what you studied. It’s nobody’s fault. It’s just tough.”
Utah State had 31 baskets and 25 assists Monday night. That means of the 31 times the ball went into the hoop, only six times did it not happen as the direct result of a pass — often three, four or five passes designed to set up that final pass — and that kind of efficiency is hard to prepare for and even harder to defend play after play.
In case you’re wondering, four of USU’s 31 baskets came of offensive rebounds, meaning of those 31 baskets, only two were the result of individual play and guess what, both of those were fast break baskets after steals.
