Arizona LB commits to USU
Utah State got another verbal commitment this weekend when Arizona linebacker Chris Fox, a 6-foot-3, 215-pounder from Scottsdale, told Aggie coach Gary Andersen he would join the program.
A source close to the Aggie football team told the Deseret News Fox made the commitment Sunday morning after meeting with USU coaches and players as part of a weekend recruiting visit.
Fox, who was a part of Chaparral High’s state championship team in Arizona, had a solid senior season and recovered a fumble for a touchdown in the state title game.
He had offers from Northern Arizona, Montana State and Nevada.
Fox was in a party of six recruits to visit Utah State over the weekend and enjoyed his time at the Aggies’ 81-59 win over Boise State at the Spectrum. He was the third commit of the weekend, following California high school stars Nick Diaz (a kicker from Redondo Beach) and Shaan Johnson (a 6-foot-3 receiver from Cerritos’ Gahr High.
Also on the receruiting trip were a trio of players from Hawaii. Quarterback Jeremy Higgins, who previously committed to USU and reaffirmed his decision Saturday night, was accompanied by Brian Suite (a 6-3, 190-pound defensive back from Punahou High) and V.J. Fehoko (a four-star linebacker also being recruited by Texas Tech, Kansas State, Utah and Washington) on the trip.
The Aggies covet a player like Fehoko and are going down to the wire to sign the player from Farrington High.
