Cornerback and quarterback commit to USU

Just got word from a source close to the Aggies that two more high school stars have committed to join Utah State next season.

One, Nevin Lawson, is a cornerback from Piper High in Fort Lauderdale, Florida while the other has a fairly familiar name.

Jeremy Higgins, the younger brother of Weber State star quarterback Cameron Higgins, also gave USU coach Gary Andersen a verbal commitment.

Higgins, the quarterback at Hawaii’s St. Louis High, will join his brother in the Beehive State next season.

Lawson, a 5-foot-11, 180-pounder has played multiple positions for his high school but will be a cornerback at Utah State.

“He’s a fierce competitor and he’ll be able to bring a lot of speed with him,” Piper High coach Matthew Lewis told the Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinal. “He also has a knack for the football. This year, he’s run the ball for us, he returns on special teams, plays defensive back and has scored from everywhere you can think of.”
Lewis said Lawson also had scholarship offers Western Michigan, Buffalo and Duke.

Higgins’ a 6-2 left handed thrower, is the second high school quarterback to give Andersen a commitment. Jordan High’s Alex Hart committed to Utah State last week.

Here’s a youtube video featuring Higgins’ highlights.
