Extreme Makeover, Spectrum Edition

Prior to the football game today I made a stop at basketball practice to work on a story. With Stew Morrill closing the doors to all practices, I had to wait in the Spectrum hallways for my interviews.

While there, I bumped into USU athletic director Scott Barnes and got a tour of the newly refurbished locker and training room facilities.

If I had to use one word to describe the new digs it would be ‘niiiiiiice.’

Because of structural poles and other architectural restrictions at the Spectrum, Utah State had to fit its updates around those limitations. The training room was moved to the other side of the building. The women’s basketball team has a sweet new setup with upgraded showers, custom lockers and a meeting room. They’ll have individual showers and flat screen TVs to go over film from the first half of games.

The men have all that as well.

The men’s coaching locker room also got a few upgrades. Well, actually just one — Morrill got his own private stall in the bathroom.
