Newbold on the mend — who's on the move

Word got out Tuesday that Utah State shooting guard Tyler Newbold is injured.

The 6-foot-4 Payson High product was hobbled a little bit toward the end of the season and after an MRI found out the pain he has been feeling is the knee is, in fact, a broken bone.

Newbold said he’s not sure how bad the damage is but will rest, rehab and recover during the offseason before his junior year with the Aggies begins.

In other Aggie news, a source close to the team said there will be at least one member of the team not returning next season.

Gary Wilkinson is the only senior on the roster but another member of the team is leaving as well.

Rumors on Internet message boards suggested Newbold, Matt Formisano, Deremy Geiger or Jaxon Myaer might be on the move.

The most frequently-mentioned name, though, has been hot-shooting Stavon Williams. The junior has one year of eligibility left, but the source said Williams might be transferring after the semester but did not give a reason.
