Writing this from my bed at the Spokane Airport Ramada — I should go to the fitness center for a run, but getting out of bed might be the most strenuous workout I get after a long night in the Palouse.
Remember the memory-challenged character from the movie Finding Nemo? She was a blue fish named Dorie and she battled her flaws with the simple motto of ‘Just keep swimming.”
Utah State, while having its flaws, similarly just keeps winning.
Thursday night’s win at the Cowen Spectrum — a tidy arena created by positioning portable bleachers and curtains around the Kibbie Dome — was Utah State’s 19th in a row.
Like many during the streak, the 19th win was not a pretty one. But it was a big one.
The Aggies are now Western Athletic Conference champions. They have secured a share of that title with four games left to play against WAC foes.
Against Idaho, USU had a miserable stretch of field goal shooting but still found a way to win — primarily with defense and rebounding. The Aggies enjoyed a 40-21 rebounding advantage and just spanked the Vandals by allowing only 36.4 percent shooting.

Saturday night, the Aggies have a chance to win the WAC title outright — in Boise.
As circumstances have it, it is BSU’s Taco Bell Arena a year ago that was the scene of some interesting drama.
The Broncos hosted Utah State and hoped to celebrate an outright WAC title themselves. There were promotions, posters, advertisements and a big crowd to hoot and holler.
The Aggies spoiled those plans, however, with a blowout road win and clinched a share of the conference title themselves.
Since them, USU has not lost a regular season WAC game.
The Aggies just keep winning.
