There is less than one week to go before signing day and Utah State coach Gary Andersen is trying to put the final touches on his first recruiting class.
With trips to California, Oklahoma and points in between on his agenda over the final few days, Andersen said he’s hoping to get the last few spots filled on his Christmas-list of football players.
I spoke with Andersen by phone Wednesday and he said he’s had a very productive week. Without going into details — that would be an NCAA violation — the new Aggie coach said he has been talking with some defensive linemen, receivers and a few other players.
Word out of Logan is there is a small group of recruits visiting the school this weekend and some will be on hand to watch the USU vs. Nevada basketball game Thursday night. If so and if the experience is anything like the last time a group of recruits gets a taste of ‘Spectrum Magic’ there will likely be some commitments made.
According to a source, USU is bringing in a junior college quarterback, a JC receiver and a JC cornerback as well as a few other players. If so, it would indicate Andersen might not be satisfied with the team’s depth in that class of players and wants some extra eperience.
