Andersen chasing final pieces of recruiting puzzle

There is barely a week left in the race that is football recruiting and new Utah State coach Gary Andersen is working hard to get the final handful of commitments to what will be his first recruiting class for the Aggies.

With 18 known commitments already on board, Andersen has to be a little more selective with the remaining scholarships he intends to offer.

Including the high school athletes expected to go on LDS missions before enrolling at USU, Andersen told me he hopes to get signatures 25 or 26 recruits next week.

Word from Las Vegas is that speedy running back/receiver Marcus Sullivan is going back and forth between honoring his original commitment to play for the UNLV Rebels or accept an offer from Utah State. His official decision may not be known until he hits the send button on the fax machine with his National Letter of Intent. He told a Las Vegas newspaper recently, however, that he wants to be a Rebel. Stay tuned on that one.

The Aggies, meanwhile, will probably be looking for another receiver, a couple of defensive linemen and possibly a quarterback over the next few days.
