A report surfaced Tuesday that Michael Williams, a 6-foot-2, 200-pound safety from Flower Mound, Texas, had committed to sign with Utah State.
That report is false.
A source close to USU said Utah State has, in fact, received a verbal commitment from Mike Williams — a 5-10, 165 pound cornerback fromm Houston’s Aldine High School — but that the safety from Flower Mound has not been offered a scholarship by USU and that new Utah State coach Gary Andersen is not recruiting the player.
One place the Aggies are actively recruiting is Las Vegas. In addition to trying to secure the services of speedy running back/receiver Marcus Sullivan, Andersen — according to scout.com — has made scholarship offer to 6-1, 205 linebacker Damien Proby and 6-5, 320 offensive lineman Jeremiah Tofaeono.
All three played at Cheyenne High School last season.
