Another recruit and then some
Add one more name to the growing list of recruits new USU coach Gary Andersen has talked into joining the Aggies.
Bountiful High all-state linebacker Travis Parrish gave Andersen his word he will sign with Utah State in February. Parrish is a 6-foot-4, 200-pounder who played receiver and linebacker for the Braves and had 68 tackles, six sacks, five interceptions and a pair of fumble recovers for the 8-3 Bountiful High team.
He’s also a top-notch basketball player which should come as no surprise considering his father, Norm Parrish, is the long-time hoops coach at Salt Lake Community College.
Also on the USU recruiting front, Marcus Sullivan — a speedy athlete from Las Vegas who rushed for 1,400 yards last year and caught 13 passes for another 431 yards — has not officially committed to play for USU.
Sullivan told me over the phone on Sunday he was still torn between his hometown Rebels and Utah State — he gave the Rebels a previous verbal commitment but that was before Andersen was hired at USU. A source close to USU said Andersen was making a recruiting trip to Las Vegas on Monday and intended to meet with Sullivan and try to steal the Cheyenne High product away from UNLV.
