You say you want speed?

Utah State landed one of the fastest JC running backs out there this weekend when Eastern Arizona speedster Michael Smith committed to join the Aggies.

Smith, a 5-foot-9, 198 pounder rushed for 1,002 yards and 11 touchdowns on only 131 carries for the Gila Monsters.

That was, however, only good enough for second best on his team. Tony Reid ran for 1,238 yards. But it’s Smith, who has a blazing time of 4.38 in the 40-yard dash according to scout.com, who will be carrying the ball for Utah State.

EAC finished the season with an 8-3 record but had the best junior college rushing game in the nation with more than 380 yards on the ground per game.

He is a full qualifier, meaning he is eligible to enroll in class at Utah State for the winter semester and will be with the team for spring practices.
