Give Logan's airport the W

Normally, you’d think Utah State would be the team feeling some jet lag in Ruston when facing Louisiana Tech.

But Thursday night, it was probably the Bulldogs — despite playing on their home court and having slept in their own beds — that had no legs as the game went on.

The Aggies, flying on a chartered plane directly from Logan’s recently expanded airport, were in the air only four hours before touching down in Karl Malone’s old stomping grounds. LaTech, on the other hand, had it rough.

While the trip to Hawaii for a game on Monday might have been scenic, it came with a price. Long after USU had beaten Idaho Monday night, the Bulldogs were still battling it out in Honolulu with the Warriors in a game that ended early Tuesday morning according the LTU’s biological clocks.

After getting some sleep, the Bulldogs hopped aboard their own flight and, after 11 hours in the air and a couple of layovers, finally got back home late Tuesday night.

Utah State, meanwhile, was breaking down and watching film in Logan while getting in an extra practice.

USU looked awfully rusty at the beginning of the game — this was, after all, their first real road trip since November 17 — but had plenty of life in them as they slammed the door on the Bulldogs.

With a convincing 13-0 run to close the game, the Aggies improved to 14-1 overall and 2-0 in WAC play.

And they should give a lot of credit for that to the new, longer runway in Logan that allowed them to have a relatively easy commute to the game.
